University Applications
Many of our Sixth Forms will leave the Priory Witham Academy to follow a course at university and in order to support these students; we provide a range of activities that enable them be as successful as possible.
All Year 12 students have the opportunity to take part in a range of enrichment activities which broaden their educational experience. Throughout Year 12 & 13 the Sixth Form team work with university applicants to guide them in their reading and research on the subjects they wish to study. There are many courses and open days at universities that provide students with valuable information and we encourage them to make the most of relevant opportunities. We also support learners looking to pursue relevant work experience and will try to guide them towards suitable options in conjunction with our work experience co-ordinator.
The process of completing a personal statement for a university application is taken very seriously and considerable advice and support is given. There are also a number of opportunities to gain interview experience with a range of staff who specialise in this area.
Over the past few years all students applying for a place at university have received an offer from their preferred choice and have gone on to achieve the grades necessary to gain admission to their chosen course.
The ethos of the Sixth Form is about supporting the student to be able to develop both academic and extra-curricular prowess with the aim of taking each applicant to their goal of a university place in their chosen field. However if a student does not wish to go to university they will also receive support to achieve their chosen goal beyond Sixth Form. Anyone who does not wish to apply for university will have a series of interviews with our independent careers advisor who can guide them through their options. We will also supply advice on how to produce a good CV and succeed in interviews.
